Adoption Status

Some of you might be wondering where we are in the adoption process. We have applied to a Christian agency and our application has been accepted. We are almost done with our home study and only a couple of documents away from completing our dossier. A dossier is basically a compilation of documents verifying who we are and that we have all the necessary paperwork completed to adopt. Hopefully, it will only take a couple more weeks to complete these two pieces of the puzzle and we can then get on the waiting list to be referred a child. Prayers, prayers, prayers!!!

So here we go. My first real blog posting. I have avoided doing this for a while because I thought it was more complicated than it actually is. Where to start....? I guess I can tell our story of when it all started. Josh and I have been unable to get pregnant for some time now and we started thinking, maybe we needed to get fertility help. We went to the doctors and it was the same as usual. Get labs done, find out what's wrong with us and so on. Except one night, I was watching a documentary on little girls being adopted in China. I was literally crying by the end of it. It really touched my heart and made me think, "what would it be like to adopt instead of go through all of this fertility treatment mess?" I mentioned it to Josh and he agreed. We had always said adoption would be an option should we ever have a hard time getting pregnant. So, God worked on us for a couple of weeks, revealed to us that a family from our small group bible study was adopting (which encouraged us to want to adopt more so), and had us saying, "YES!, we are in!".  Now, adoption journeys are all different. Some can happen very quickly without any mishaps and some can take f-o-r-e-v-e-r with lots of "pull your hair out" kind of moments. Ours was the latter. LOL! We went through ups and downs, disappointments and heartaches but, we now see how God was preparing us and bringing us to a place where we would have never been courageous enough to go before. And that place is here and now, Ethiopia. To be continued......

Hello everyone! Thank you for taking the time to view our blog. We are very excited to start this journey to Ethiopia in hopes of bringing home a baby girl. Please check back often for updates on the status of our adoption. I will write more when time allows. Right now, my 3 year old is needing a turkey and cheese sandwich. Aloha and God bless!
